Black Bear
Joe Duvall is a self-taught artist and Coast Guard veteran originally from Phoenix, Arizona, and now based in Jacksonville, Florida. His creative journey began at just six years old, when he first discovered a passion for painting and woodworking—two disciplines that have continued to shape his artistic career.
Working primarily with acrylic paint, resin and exotic hardwoods, Joe creates everything from small, highly detailed custom pieces to full-scale, functional furniture. His work blends traditional craftsmanship with artistic expression, allowing the natural character of each piece of wood to become part of the finished work.
As a self-taught artist, Joe approaches his craft with a constant desire to learn, experiment, and improve. Rather than being confined to a single style or medium, he embraces the freedom to explore new techniques and ideas, continually evolving his work through hands-on experience and creativity.
Now working in North Florida, Joe has had the privilege of showcasing his work at art shows, farmers markets and supporting veteran organizations throughout the region. His work reflects a dedication to craftsmanship, individuality, and the belief that functional objects can also be meaningful works of art.
