WOOD AFTERCARE & MAINTENANCE

Use these steps to protect handmade wood products and keep the finish looking clean.

GENERAL CARE

Hand wash only. Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap when needed. Dry immediately with a clean towel.


Do not soak. Do not put wood products in the dishwasher, leave them in standing water, or store them while wet.


Avoid extreme conditions. Keep away from high heat, direct sun for long periods, and very dry or humid storage areas. Refresh when dry. If the wood looks dull, feels rough, or absorbs water quickly, it is time for oil.

OILING INSTRUCTIONS

Use: food-safe mineral oil, cutting board oil, butcher block conditioner, or board butter made with mineral oil and beeswax.

Avoid: vegetable oil, olive oil, cooking oil, or other oils that can turn sticky or go rancid.

How to apply: clean the piece, let it dry completely, rub oil evenly into the wood with a soft cloth, let it soak in, then wipe off all excess oil.

For boards and food-contact items: oil both sides and all edges to help the wood absorb moisture evenly.
